very first talent agency interview help and camera acting help (3 questions)?

I have my very first interview/audition this saturday.

I am thinking about wearing black pinstripe trousers, a purple zebra print top, and black pumps. Does this sound like a decent outfit?

Also, what should I expect? I’ve googled it but it boosts up my confidence to make sure I am fully prepared!

What are some good tips for acting in front of the camera? I am used to theater acting, but have a comedic monologue for the camera and it just doesn’t seem to come out right – I look like I’m overacting slightly, even though I have drastically turned down my theater acting for the camera. Any hints or tips?
I checked them in the BBB and googled them multiple times – they appear to be a legit company, and I know not to work with anybody who requires any money from me!

Yes, I mailed them my head shot and resume – I have been doing so for around a year to every talent agency in the area.

this sounds like it may be a scam. did you google the name plus scam? and did you send in professional headshots and a seriously impressive resume with a demo reel to them through the mail? if not, its a scam, period.

Hey stay away from strips, stick with solid colours (no black or white) for strips will make you look different on camera. (found this out the hard way on a student film)
At the audition you will do your monologue, don’t over exaggerate anything. And sometimes they will ask you to do it again but in a different way (they usually tell you what way).
When acting for a camera remember 2 things: one NEVER look directly into the camera (unless someone tells you to), and two never turn your back to the camera. Other then that you are usually given a area to look at.
    Break a leg, have fun

I say yes to the pants, no to the shirt. You want to look professional while being comfortable. The shirt sounds too laid back almost like you just came in off the street for the interview. I would also suggest wearing lower heels or flats, especially if you’re doing camera work. You want to be comfortable, and who knows how long they’ll have you stand and talk (they might conduct the whole interview like that!)

I’ve been asked everything from “Why do you want to be an actor..Why should we sign you..to What kind of fruit would you be?” The agency wants to guage who you are, and what you’re in the business for. If it sounds like acting is just a passing fancy to you, legitimate agencies will be more weary because they want actors who live and die for their trade.

I would say to definitely film yourself and then watch it to see what you can improve. With the camera, especially humor, you can be a lot more subtle with the things you say and do. Something like rolling your eyes wouldn’t be picked up on stage, but would be on camera.

Also, I wouldn’t say it’s a scam if they didn’t ask you for a demo reel.

    Good luck!!

Zebra stripes are cool to show your personality, but they do not look good on camera, and horizontal stripes widen your torso- not a good thing. Stick with solid colors. You may also want to wear lower heels, preferably no heel, because the agency wants to see how you really look, your real height. Also, do not wear heavy or dark makeup.

I have been to acting acency interviews already andd imm sure you’ll be statified with my answer. First of all if you are going to be filmed DO NOT WEAR THAT SHIRT! the zebra pattern will take away from the most important thing YOU! remember your the one they want to notice NOT your outfit. Definatlly look cute, butt dresss FOR UR AGE!!! [you never want to look older or younger then your true age] Even if you arent going to be in the camera i do suggest you wear a simple solid color hirt. This will make you look professinal and orginized. You should deffinatly expect alot of QUESTIONS! NEVER EVER EVER let your nerves show! the first thing they look in someone is CONFIDENCE! AND ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS SMILE! your smile is the best thing you can wear to an outfittt!:)
Tips for the camera. ALWAYS SMILE AT THE END!! and dont forget to slate when asked!!:) [a slate is simply your name & age "Hi im blah blah and im blah years old" SMILE AT THE END! ALWAYS BE CONFIDENT and DONT LOOK AT THE CAMERA (if your too nervous) the camera will just make you more nervouus. Instead pick a point above or beside the camera. And just remeber to BREATHE! ahah i know it sound wierd but some poeple are too nervous they forget to breathe. BUT the best advice i can give you is REHERSE your lines [but never over do it] you may forget it. AND TAKE A DEEP BREATHE AND SMILE LOOK BY THE CAMERA AND HAVE FUNNNNN!!! **good luck!!!
